MIX: Static + Distance July 2014 Mix
Our second monthly mix! The site has been up a little over a month and has grown tremendously. I’m ecstatic with the direction things have gone and look forward to some more new stuff in the works along with more from the others writers on the site. Thanks a ton to them and thanks even more to all of you reading this. Onto the mix: this one has a little bit of everything. In case you missed the last one, I am essentially throwing together whatever I’ve been listening to over the past month. June’s mix was an exception as it was the first on the site and I was trying to wrap up everything I’d been listening to over the course of a year. This one runs the gamut from the post-punk eeriness of Merchandise’s “Enemy” to The New Pornographers’ brand of infectious indie pop and closes with folk legend John Fahey.
As I mentioned in another post, I’ve been having some issues with Soundcloud and 8tracks seems to work well for my purposes. The only caveat is that the tracks randomize after the first listen. Not a huge deal and worth not having any possibility of legal trouble on my end. Anyhow, that’s all irrelevant and you probably just want to hear this mix, so I won’t hold you up. Listen below.
1. Merchandise – Enemy
2. The Clean – Dunes
3. Angel Olsen – Stars
4. Lewis – My Whole Life
5. Death of Lovers – Cold Heaven
6. Animal Eyes – Last Knock
7. The New Pornographers – War On The East Coast
8. Christian Löffler – Veiled Grey
9. Father John Misty – Nancy From Now On
10. Guided By Voices – Twilight Campfighter
11. Sir Victor Uwaifo – Dododo
12. John Fahey – Indian-Pacific R.R. Blues
