TRACK: Bully – “I Remember”
Bully’s EP was one of my best discoveries/purchases last year and I’m pleased to report the first official sample from their debut album builds upon that arrival.
“I Remember” is a sub-two-minute blast down memory lane, singer Alicia Bognanno shouting the title between familiar fond recollections of “getting too fucked up,” “throwing up in cars,” “hurting you so bad” and “the way your sheets smelled” – all sentiments that sound bitterly heartfelt behind her howl.
It’s hard not to remember Bully’s brand of brash frenetic energy and raw mixing being a big reason behind some of the noisy punks from the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, as well, although Bognanna and her Nashville boys are well on their way to carving a niche all to themselves.
Check them out on upcoming dates around the U.S. and Canada opening for fellow Nashville rockers JEFF The Brotherhood.
