Static Synopsis: 6/26/2015 – 7/2/2015
I’m sticking with the “5 great songs” method of wrapping up the week. The tracks this week all seem to be heavy on the electronics (save for the surprise collab between Wavves and Cloud Nothings). Greg Aubry’s retro and almost menacing new track, “Shadows” proves that one can innovate while looking to the past for inspiration. If you haven’t heard “Be Safe,” then check out that one too. Helado Negro, who mesmerized me while opening for Sufjan Stevens last month, released a fantastic new track titled “Young Latin and Proud” that was a shoe-in for the Synopsis this week.
Helado Negro – “Young Latin and Proud”
Tamaryn – “Softcore”
The Analog Lights – “Shadows” (Live Take)
Wavves x Cloud Nothings – “No Life For Me”
Owen Pallett – “The Phone Call”
This one has embedding disabled, so you’ll have to head to Soundcloud to hear it.
And the usual video to cap off the string of new tracks… A documentary on disco great, Cerrone:
