Static Synopsis: 7/10/2015 – 7/16/2015

I’ll be taking a break from the site for the next couple of weeks. Brian will be emerging from his long, dark slumber and doing god knows what with Static + Distance in the meantime. I have some old favorites queued up for you too, so I’ll be here in spirit. That said, the Synopsis may disappear for a few weeks, but never fear… it shall return in August. Onto this week’s jams… Yo La Tengo covering the Cure isn’t something I knew I wanted and the video may even be better than the track. Detroit post-punks Protomartyr are back with a phenomenal first single from their forthcoming album, The Agent Intellect. Summer Moon, which is apparently indie rock’s latest supergroup featuring members of The Strokes, Au Revoir Simone and more. All of this week’s selections are worth checking out. Listen below.

Protomartyr – “Why Does It Shake?”

Yo La Tengo – “Friday I’m In Love” (The Cure cover)

Swervedriver – “Winter Depths”

Summer Moon – “With You Tonight”

Youth Lagoon – “The Knower”

Also, check out this trailer for Dude Bro Party Massacre III (the first full-length movie from 5 Second Films). If you’re unfamiliar with the group, a quick search on YouTube should bring up some gems. They somehow manage to make countless numbers of these shorts and keep them all fresh and hilarious.
